I create copy for a wide range of organisations based on user needs. I collaborate with user researchers, UX leads, company directors, service designers, developers and interaction designers and advise on the best structure and format in which to present content. I have written content for private, public and charity sector organisations and for websites.

I've been commissioned to write mainly technology-focused news and features by national newspapers, industry magazines, trade association publications and digital publications.Previous commissions covered renewable energy, environmental sustainability and human interest stories. Clients include: The Times, The Guardian, UKAuthority.com, The Ecologist.

Copy edit long technical reports. Clients include Fresh Egg, for Liberty.co.uk's technical and structural analysis of their website; and FC Business Intelligence, for reports on topics including in-vehicle technology and human-computer interaction.

As part of the Payments team I helped design better user journeys for the public to pay their taxes in collaboration with user researchers and interaction designers. I also co-designed a suite of forms for Statutory Parental Bereavement Pay in consultation with BEIS and HMRC policymakers, as part of legislation which came into force in April 2020.

Working with an excellent team, I reshaped technical web content into plainer, sharper English, focusing on user needs and improved navigation.

I wrote news and features for Local Digital, a programme from the Department for Communities and Local Government that facilitated digital innovation in local government. The initiative brought together local and central government to improve public services and was run jointly with independent publisher UKAuthority.

Wrote content for the HM Revenue & Customs website, part of the large programme to transition HMRC content to GOV.UK, working in house at GDS with HMRC subject matter experts, writing according to the GDS style guide.

Madrid, Spain (company headquarters)

Devised, led and oversaw communications strategy to produce external written material, manage reputation and ensure press coverage in Asia Pacific, Central Eastern and Southern Europe, the UK and Italy. Worked with PR agencies and company offices in those regions. Role also included budget management, writing and editing presentations for senior directors.

I wrote news and features for this online fortnightly publication on the use of technology and the web to improve public services and democratic engagement.

Sourced and wrote news and features on access to IT and to the web by people with a disability. The role included commissioning features, sub-editing and managing the E-Access Bulletin Live Blog http://www.headstar.com/eablive.
