Co-authored the Social Systems and Justice chapter of the fifth National Climate Assessment. In its first year with a social science chapter, I led the integration and model development of environmental justice, and initiated the NCA’s first ever tribal consultation.

I led the development of and oversee a new PSP program responsible for implementing key environmental justice (EJ) state legislation and equity-focused executive orders within an environmental restoration state agency. I partner across intra-and-interagency teams to build understanding of programmatic needs and opportunities. I manage a bi-annual $1.5M budget to build staff capacity, conduct research, facilitate trainings, and design and execute EJ policies and plans. As a member of the Leadership Team, I integrate equitable and strategic considerations in agency-wide policies, planning, and decision making.

• Created and led the WSG DEI Workgroup, shifting the organizational culture and values• Managed and co-developed WSG’s organizational strategic plan “10-year Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Roadmap” that has been approved and adopted by all staff and leadership• Built and sustained collaborative partnerships with Tribes, and Indigenous and coastal communities• Applied quantitative, qualitative, and spatial analysis methods to community-based participatory research on ocean change and community resilience, using primary and secondary data• Liaised with and advised University, regional, and national partners and stakeholders on best practices and implementation of tribal engagement, environmental justice and DEI

• Strengthened and developed partnerships with tribes, environmental organizations, and community-based groups to place diverse undergraduate students into summer internships • Supported the development of an 8-week field curriculum for diverse undergraduate students to develop skills and gain experience in conservation and environmental justice• Coordinated programmatic learning activities that emphasized racial equity, power, privilege, and identity at the intersection of food, climate, water, and ecosystems

• Collaborated with local tribes to facilitate Native-led workshops with the goal to identify values-driven climate adaptation strategies for decision makers and community members• Co-developed the Tribally-Based Climate Science and Health Toolkit that includes a tribal engagement guidebook and teaching modules on tribal treaty rights and climate science

• Engaged with partners and WA coast communities to improve project proposal outcomes and future socio-economic policy responses for the Washington Coast Restoration Initiative• Led a chapter-wide Introduction to Tribal Engagement training and identified strategies for the chapter to more ethically, effectively, and intentionally engage with tribal nations

• Collected, cleaned, and analyzed social indicators and environmental conditions data of WA coastal counties for social science contributions to the Washington Marine Spatial Plan• Utilized GIS, SPSS, and excel to conduct quantitative analyses and support report production

• Assisted in policy and student focus groups, and pilot study execution for projects funded through National Institutes of Health that focus on the well-being of tribal college students• Identified project participants, coded the project’s collected data, assisted in human subjects review applications, and formatted research protocol manuals

• Developed and sustained over 50 campus-community partnerships to provide students with volunteer or research opportunities that reflect community-based learning objectives• Coordinated community service and engagement events, including the MLK Day of Service, to bridge multiple stakeholders and support student engagement efforts• Mentored eight student civic fellows to develop their community engagement projects
