About Melanie Sedgley

Edge was created during one of the most adverse times in my career, following unexpected redundancy.I spent almost six years supporting the growth of Oscar globally. I was hired in 2018 to create and manage the internal recruitment function across two offices. I oversaw the growth of the Global Talent Acquisition team and my success in this role led to a promotion to Head of People and Culture in just under two years. In this position, I was responsible for creating and owning the people strategy in line with the company vision, as well as growing the global people team (inclusive of Talent, HR and L&D) even further. During my tenure at Oscar, the organisation’s headcount tripled and I was instrumental to the expansion of six additional global offices and new brands being launched, all of which are achievements I am really proud of.It might sound cliche, but adversities like being made redundant can make you ask yourself some big questions - who you want to be, why you want to be that person and what you want to be known for. I found that answering these questions reset my purpose (my “why”) and made me realise I had to do the one thing I have always been scared to do: set up on my own.I quickly identified a gap in the market for a full People and Talent consultancy service. This is when I created Edge. Why Edge? Other than ‘edge’ being part of my second name there isn’t an exciting or memorable back story, but seriously - the value I add will give your business the Edge over your competition.I'm not a HR Consultant - I'm a salesperson with a people centric approach. When it comes to the commercial stuff I understand how to join the dots, resulting in better talent attraction, better retention and higher levels of employee engagement. For your business, this means a high performance culture resulting in £££!I offer retained, contingency and product service models based on your needs. Some examples of my specialist areas are (but not limited to):Talent Acquisition & Strategy Employer Brand Employee Value Proposition ED&I Induction & Onboarding Performance Management Retention tools and initiativesI'm a doting mother of two children and I have an extremely big heart, I am proof that being a parent does not define professional success and you are capable of ANYTHING 💜✨
