The Home Building Foundation (HBF) is the charitable arm of the Home Building Association of Metro Portland. In partnership with non-profit care providers, the HBF builds safe, dignified, energy efficient housing for the temporarily homelessness. Utilizing strong relationship-, team- and project-management skills, my primary focus was to cultivate industry-wide support to build transitional housing for families in need, creating a real sense of "home" — a place to grow, build memories and plan for the future. Through grant making, we also created a workforce development program to provide mentored scholarship support to qualifying students interested in pursuing a career in residential home building.Our organization was built on lasting relationships. I was charged with engaging and energizing a strong board of directors, volunteers, event committees, trade contractors, partnering organizations, and project funders to ensure it would continue to thrive. In addition to the external relations, we worked to deepen and refine all aspects of our communications from web presence to marketing pieces to public engagements.

I was responsible for the re-branding and management of marketing and communications strategies for a locally owned, mortgage company, serving Oregon and Washington's residential and commercial lending needs. Major initiatives included: developing client-relations programs, developing and evaluating marketing plans and budgets, refining all aspects of communications, both internal and external, and building a community outreach program.

As a team member of urbanVue Properties, a start-up real estate company specializing in in-fill land development, we created software to identify investment properties and development feasibility through real estate data mining. We designed a transaction tracking system integrated with RMLS and other real estate data and digital maps providers. From development to implementation, I managed all aspects of our marketing and communications and participated in trade associations, conferences and other marketing related events to further awareness within the business community.

Hobbs/Herder Advertising was an industry changer, shifting the real estate business from a sales-based industry to a marketing-based industry. As National Marketing Director, I traveled 45 weeks a year to a different city each week, speaking in front of groups of real estate and mortgage professionals. Teaching "Marketing 101- the importance of building a personal brand", I trained clients on building custom marketing programs and business systems, helping thousands of real estate agents and brokers become dominant market leaders.
