Melanie Elvena is an arts producer, independent curator, and artist living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area with extensive experience in community arts. She currently serves as Artistic Director at the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center and Programs Manager at Asian American Women Artists Association in San Francisco. In 2020, she co-founded Hella Maarte Productions, a Bay Area arts production agency serving people of color, women, and LGBTQ+ communities to realize a hella equitable future. Melanie received her B.A. in Art History from University of California-Irvine with an emphasis in Modern and Contemporary Art. Her recent projects include: lead mentor and producer for the Emerging Curators Program, director of the 23rd annual United States of Asia America Festival, and producer of The Love Edition: Falling Hard short play series for Bindlestiff Studio.She is a junior board member for Kundiman, a New York-based Asian American poets and writers organization with national regional chapters. She sings four-part a cappella harmony for San Francisco Soundwave Chorus where she is the visual leader/choreographer and bass section leader while also a member of affiliated quartet, Seismic Sound. Melanie conjures desserts and immersive art and food experiences under the moniker Marahuyo Confections.
