Melvin has 20 years of experience in facilities operations and providing emergency and business continuity management solutions to organizations. His current role as the Head of Department, requires him to leads a team of 70 staff to support facilities & security management in the Hospital and the Specialist Centre.Under his leadership, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital has achieved:- Building & Construction Authority (BCA) Green Mark Platinum award in 2014, 2019 & 2022.- National Fire and Civil Emergency Preparedness Council (NFEC) Fire Safety (Excellence) award in 2018 & 2022- National Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) Outstanding Cluster Award in 2017, 2019 & 2022At the corporate level, Melvin is the Vice Chairperson of the Facility Management and Safety Committee (FMS) and the Fire Safety lead for Parkway Hospitals. He had seen through JCI survey with the hospital in year 2013, 2017 and 2020.Interest outside work, Melvin is also an Adjunct Lecturer at Ngee Ann Polytechnic for Fire Safety Manager Course.As a strong believer in volunteering work, Melvin has extended his national service duty with SCDF, as Company Sergeant Major and Section Commander, leading a team of fire and rescue specialists at Sengkang Fire Station. He also volunteered as a rescuer under the SCDF’s Operations Lionheart Contingent, which provides urban search, rescue and humanitarian relief assistance to countries affected by major disasters.
