I am a diver and mountaineer, exploring the last wild places on our planet. Every year we take up projects and expeditions. Example of expeditions and projects: - Diving explorations in the cold winter of Arctic Norway- Diving explorations of pristine seabeds on the border of the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea- Citizen Science. The ocean is too big for scientists. We help them with ID projects of whales and killer whalesMountaineer with pioneering climbs and expeditions, explored new technical routes that have never been climbed by man, in the Alps, Karakoram and the Himalayas.- Changabang Expedition - Himalaya - Changabang is the benchmark for the most technical and bold level of Himalayan climbing and all expeditions to this mountain are on the edge of what is possible in Mountaineering nowadays.- Thalay Sagar Expedition - Himalaya. Pioneering a new route to the summit and 8th ascent of the mountain ever. Vertical climbing in the Himalayas!- Thalay Sagar and Bhrigupanth expedition. Goal: climbing the summit of Thalay Sagar and Bhrigupanth in pure alpine style. Our team reached the summit of Bhrigupanth.- Shani Peak expedition Karakoram, Pakistan. Goal: pioneering new routes to the summit. The team achieved the first ascent of the East summit and established a new route on the main summit.- Ama Dablam expedition, Nepal. - Goal: exploring a new route to the summit Not successful. We aimed to high and should have climbed the easiest route and made the first Dutch ascent of this beautiful mountain.- Melvin pioneered a first ascent to the summit of the Aiguille de Argentiere, French Alps- Many alpine climbs and committing North Face routes. Some of them as first or second Dutch ascent.

As an adventurer, diver and mountaineer I am used to operate on the edge of nature. What I learned in those harsh environments is that we live in an age of unprecedented ecological challenges, and the time to act is now. That is why Melvin and his wife Fiona van Doorn founded the Stichting In de Noordzee. With this project we are committed to contribute. Our activities: - Education on primary schools. A healthy sea starts on your school yard. We educate kids about the marine life, the food chain and plastic soup. Every child can make the difference. By keeping our school yards clean we help prevent plastics and other waste coming into our oceans - and on our plate.
