In 2012, I became a licensed psychologist, ready to build a career in therapy, testing, and supervision.I had a clear plan. But life doesn’t always follow plans.In 2015, a massive blizzard hit the northeast. Power lines down. Roads iced over. I had to cancel 21 therapy clients.We were saving for the 20% downpayment on our first home. Part of that income? Gone.Then in 2018, our daughter arrived two months early. She spent weeks in the NICU. It was a journey of strength and hope, followed by 13 months of physical therapy to help her catch up.These moments shook me.They made me rethink everything: my career, my time, and how I wanted to show up for my family.So, I set three new goals:• Build income streams beyond 1:1 work.• Design my career around family, health, and passions.• Use my skills in ways psychologists “aren’t supposed to.”In 2015, I launched Selling The Couch, a podcast that’s now been downloaded 1.8+ million times in over 100 countries and is in the top .5% in the world.That same year, colleagues asked for podcasting advice. Those conversations sparked my first course. Since then, 232+ students have joined, and it’s generated over $316k in revenue.Was it perfect? No way. I’ve made plenty of mistakes (and still do!).
