About Melvin Wong

Full-stack entrepreneur with global business experience in 17 countries covering the U.S, Europe, Asia and South America. Humbled by numerous international awards. Grateful to have sold my online sports games company, FanXT in 2016 and eMemorial. I enjoy speaking four languages with people from diverse backgrounds.I'm cursed with a winning mentality where I enjoy joining competitions like hackathons. So far, I've won six hackathons - four first prizes and two-second prizes. Four of those are in Web3.Throughout my career as an entrepreneur, I'm humbled by industry honors and awards including Excellence Award from Global Innovation Through Science & Technology (GIST) in the U.S (2013), winner of TIE Global All-Asia Business Competition in India (2012), and winner of Malaysia National Intellectual Property Awards with World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Malaysia (2014). I also won the Make The Pitch business TV reality show in 2012, while reaching the semi-final of Start-Up Asia, a business reality TV show in Singapore by Channel News Asia (2014). I was the country representative at the Global Entrepreneurship Week event at the U.S White House in 2012.I enjoy speaking and paying it forward. I was a speaker at Global Entrepreneurship Summit, officiated by President Barack Obama in Malaysia in 2013. I was also a speaker for iGaming Congress in Macau during 2012. In 2018, I was the speaker at Venture Frontier Lanka.I did my share of mentoring with The South Bay Entrepreneurial Center in Los Angeles and AngelHack. Besides that, I was a 3-time mentor for Malaysia Developers' Day hackathon with AT&T (U.S) in Malaysia (2013, 2014, 2015) and judge/mentor for D3 mobile apps hackathon (2014) as well as Appster Boss hackathon (2015). I was a mentor at Angelhack hackathon in Los Angeles in 2016.Training is also a passion of mine where I published eight online courses on Udemy (https://www.udemy.com/user/melvin-wong-10/). Thus, we eventually decided to shut down the operation of LiveKrowd.LiveKrowd was created to run virtual concerts for hospitals to boost the morale of medical workers and patients while they battle COVID-19. ​We grew our average viewing time 3 times over and won the Universal Music Group (UMG) competition. The outputs of the Study will provide advisory inputs on a continuous basis to the government in support of the nation’s socio-economic agenda and will be presented as a Cabinet memorandum (Memorandum Jemaah Menteri).In Mega Science Phase 3 (2015 – 2016), five sectors, Furniture, Automotive, Creative, Tourism, and Plastics and Composites (FACT/PC) Industries, are being studied. The Creative Sector is further divided into 4 Sub-Sectors, namely, Heritage, Media, the Arts and Functional Creations.For your information, the Creative Industry is the most challenging industry in terms of its nation’s contribution. A profound and holistic “Outlook” has to be initiated and a Committee has been formed in assisting the Media Sub-Sector.
