• Strong written and verbal communication skillsAs a service consultant at a retail bank, on average I serve between 20 and 30 clients, and therefore rely a lot on my ability to communicate with different individuals of all walks of life. I also intermediate with different departments within the bank on behalf of clients through written (email) and telephonic correspondence.• Numeric AbilityThe core of my educational background lies in numeracy. From beginning my schooling career in a learning centre specialising in mathematics, to doing all the numeric subjects offered in my high school, to studying economics in university. My educational background prepared me and made me suitable for a role in a banking and investment environment.• Accuracy and attention to detailDealing with people’s finances on a daily basis has resulted in a need to be accurate and pay close attention to all details because of the financial implications involved with regards to handling and managing funds on behalf of clients. Accuracy and attention to detail are a crucial skill given my daily duties, and as such I am contracted to make the least errors as possible.• Ability to work effectively as part of a team but also independentlyHaving attended a boy’s high school, and being an active sport’s athlete during my years there, teamwork has been embedded in my DNA. Our sense of brotherhood has brought the philosophy of working as a collective to achieve a common goal. As a result, I am able to function as part of a team and establish my role as one part of a collective. What part I play depends on what role I have been assigned.
