Policy Officer at the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), where I work to promote the interests of shipowners and operators on a global scale. I have an expertise in politics, diplomacy, and foreign policy and a fluency in Arabic. Being originally from Libya, I am proud to bring my cultural background and language skills to my profession. I am also an active participant in international regulatory bodies of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), representing ICS, as well as engaging with international, regional and national trade bodies. I completed my undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations at the University of Greenwich, where I gained a comprehensive understanding of global politics and the challenges facing the international community. I then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and Foreign Policy from City, University of London, where I honed my skills in negotiation, communication, and strategic thinking. Additionally, I was able to get some insight into the trade sector during my time interning at the Egyptian Embassy’s Economic and Commercial Section based in London.With my academic background and diverse skillset, I am well-equipped to conduct research and inform industry positions on various policy files and am committed to promoting sustainable and environmentally responsible shipping practices.
