Having completed my Post Graduate in Conservation Biology at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon - working with raptors at a wildlife rehabilitation center - I am looking for opportunities to apply in the field all the knowledge and practical skills I have acquired in environmental education.For the past 7 years, I have been working at the Education Department of the Lisbon Zoo, teaching children about animals and nature. It is an incredibly fulfilling job which I absolutely love. Learning about animals and sharing that knowledge with others is something I am very passionate about, and something that I definitely see myself doing in the future. This position has allowed me to gain experience on how to communicate with young people, and how to motivate them to learn more about the environment and its protection, which I believe could be of interest to you.In addition to my job at the zoo I am also studying bird ringing and thanks to my work at the wildlife rehabilitation center I was able to ring some Portuguese raptors species, such as Bubo bubo, Falco Tinnunculus, Buteo buteo, Athene noctua, Strix aluco, Tyto alba and Gyps vulvus. With the work at the wildlife rehabilitation center my knowledge about raptors really expand, not only in their behavior but in terms of identification to. When I was quite young I joined the scouts, which has probably contributed a lot to me becoming a biologist, since having contact with nature from a young age allowed me to develop my passion for the environment. It has also given me the courage to take risks. Four years ago I seized an opportunity to go to Costa Rica for two months in order to volunteer at The Ara Project – a breeding and reintroduction center for Red and Great Green Macaws. Summer of 2017 I was hired to be an Ornithologist with Operation Wallacea in Mexico and the all experience just confirmed my passion working directly with animals and populations.
