My PhD research focuses on the movement of cell wall materials, specifically lignin, within plant cells. I use biochemistry, CRISPR-Cas9 genome editing, molecular biology and microscopy to study the process by which lignin is deposited. In my MSc I worked to develop a frost tolerant de-greening trait in Canola. I am a 4th generation farmer and have grown Canola on 160 acre fields and one by one in tissue culture jars.My interests include the development of lignocellulosic biofuels and agricultural biotechnology. I see plant science as a powerful tool to improve our world.
