I have processed all Accounts Payable for Andrew County, which I now oversee, ensuring all bills are expensed correctly for budgetary purposes. I reconcile the monthly bank statements for various Andrew County accounts within the accounting software. Yearly I work with workers comp auditor, this requires me to make sure the W-9’s and subcontractors individual workers comp certificates are on file and up to date. Every two years the County is independently audited (every four state audited), I work with these auditors as well. Our financial records as well as compliance with State and Federal regulations are examined at this time. It is my responsibility to make sure all records are kept according to these requirements at all times. I am responsible for processing payroll for Andrew County employees; this includes all human resource aspects that pertain to Payroll. I also balance and process all garnishments, insurance billings, and retirement funds. As needed I perform from open to close all FMLA, COBRA, and workers comp claims made by employees. Bi-weekly I report the Missouri State tax withholdings and EFTPS. Quarterly I file the IRS-941, Missouri Employment taxes, and The Andrew County Assessor’s state reimbursement report. I process all end of year balancing procedures for payroll and accounting such as entering the new budget, W-2’s, and 1099’s etc. Handling the accounting aspects for several different departments within the County provides an environment that allows me to increase my knowledge on a regular basis, which is what I most enjoy about this position.

I prepared tax returns and advised clients on finances. I also did payroll and bookkeeping for local businesses. This included compellation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports. I used Microsoft Works, Microsoft Money, Peachtree Accounting, ProSeries by Intuit, and Tax Slayer. Assisting clients to get the best tax advantages possible is what I most enjoyed about this job.

This was a retail business located in St. Joseph called The Paint Store. I maintained all accounts payable, accounts receivable as well as filing the proper income tax forms for the corporation. I used Quick Books Pro, Excel, Microsoft Office, and TaxAct to maintain the financial records for this business. I ran the day to day operation answering the phone, daily bookkeeping, ordering, helping customers, color matches, inventory and mixing paint and stain I enjoyed the daily challenges of running my own retail business which was an area I had never worked in before.

This business performed new construction, residential, and commercial remodeling. I was responsible for all job profit and loss statements, quarterly filings, year-end procedures and tax preparation.
