Provide all the UN agencies and donors with GIS analysis and mapping facility Major achievements in the Sudan 1.Initiated and implemented a project Enhancing Vulnerability Analysis and Poverty Mapping Capacity in the Sudan? for a total of 700,000 USD. The project was locally funded by the Dutch Embassy in the Sudan 2.Built Food Security Monitoring capacity in the government of Sudan by providing resources and training to establish the Sudan Agro Meteorological Information System (SAMIS) which is now operational 3.Predicted accurately the drought of 2000 that led to a major WFP operation in Darfur and Kordofan in 2001 year. 4.Accepted to Tufts University International Famine Center Practitioner Expert Program in 2002 to write a joint paper with Mr Masood Hyder (currently Res. Rep in DPRK) on drought lessons learned in the Sudan. Due to the crisis in Southern Africa I was instead sent on TDY to Zimbabwe. 5.I was reassigned to head the new Food Security Unit in Afghanistan but was not able to take the post as I had a heart operation in April 2002.
