The Oyu Tolgoi underground expansion is one of the largest underground mining projects in development in the world. The underground expansion's technical complexity is colossal, and mitigating the geotechnical risk crucial to the future Oyu Tolgoi mine operational and commercial success. Geotechnical monitoring was identified as a central component for the mitigation of the geotechnical risk. In my role as the geotechnical monitoring superintendent, I led a large and diverse team comprising of engineers, technicians, consultants, and various suppliers to successfully delivering the underground expansion project's geotechnical monitoring system. In this role, I have contributed to furthering the vision for geotechnical and seismic monitoring. I have also driven innovations and influenced the organization to evolve and adopt robust procedures and systems.
