Corporate Credit Analyst
• Evaluates whether SME and Corporate proposals meet sound business criteria and credit risk falls within acceptable parameters, approve and recommends appropriate credit facilities including terms or conditions of facilities. • Ensure accuracy and reliability of approvals within advised DA, or referrals to higher authority, on Business applications reviewed.• Add value to the credit approval process by guiding originators as appropriate to reduce reworks on applications to < 10%. • Identify, quantify and evaluate credit risks in relation to profitability of business proposals and financial viability of Business banking credits. • Build relationship with Branch based business and Relationship Managers to improve quality of business proposals and turnaround time on credit evaluations.• Detect and evaluate shifts or changes in key risk parameters and evaluate the implications of such changes on continued banking relationship.• Actively hind sighting lending decisions to ensure that correct procedure are being followed in the approval of facilities, which will prevent new NPL's. • Make contributions to product development team, ensuring that the new products add value to the existing products and developing processes and procedures for the same with a bias in credit.• Monitor watch lists process to ensure that irregular accounts are identified early and accounts identified as high risk are being managed effectively in terms of agreed action plans. • Review of relevant internal & external communications, such as circulars, economic reviews on industries, & financial or industry publications to ensure that any development, new requirements or external risks are properly taken cognizance of in lending decisions or conditions of lending. • Carry out other functions that could be assigned on daily basis in addition to present roles.• Liaising with Legal department on credit related issues.• Championing training of Branch credit staff within the Bank.
Credit Analyst
• Receiving and appraising loan applications ensuring that they are complete, accurate and in conformity with Credit Policy Guidelines.• Obtaining and compiling copies of loan applicants' credit histories, statements, and other financial information that is essential in loan application evaluation.• Analyze applicants' financial status, annual reports, management accounts, interim reports, industry reports, credit worthiness and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.• Developing and preparing spreadsheets and models to support analysis of new and existing business credit applications• Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to Management Credit Committee and the board depending on the respective limits.• Attending to queries that are credit related emanating from Relationship Managers, Clients, Credit Administration and branches. • Covenants monitoring: perform quarterly checks on all accounts with covenants and ensure adherence.• IFRS9 model: Ascertaining the Expected Credit Loss for the Bank’s portfolio monthly and advice the management on the asset quality and offering viable recommendations.• Ensure the TAT of the function is adhered to with minimal operational performance issues and ensuring weekly snap checks are carried out to correct any anomalies.• Continuous follow-up with Securities department to ensure timely documentation and perfection of securities and ensure deferred securities are submitted after early draw down requests are granted.
