Mercy is an educator at ʻĀina Momonaʻs ʻāina-based learning program, ROOTed, where she partners with the farm manager to implement an immersive outdoor curriculum focused on sustainable agriculture, native plant restoration, and traditional Hawaiian practices. She facilitates hands-on experiences that allow students to connect with the ʻāina, fostering a sense of stewardship and appreciation for the environment.Mercy is a passionate advocate for environmental conservation and sustainability. She educates students about the importance of preserving natural habitats, reducing waste, and practicing sustainable agriculture techniques. Through experiential learning, she empowers students to become active stewards of the land and advocates for positive change in their communities.Mercy believes in the importance of physical activity for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. She incorporates outdoor activities such as jogging, gardening, and traditional Hawaiian games into her curriculum to encourage students to stay active and connected to nature.Recognizing the connection between diet and well-being, Mercy teaches students about the benefits of eating locally sourced, nutrient-rich foods. She leads plant-based cooking classes where students learn to cook with vegetables grown from the site garden, promoting a deeper understanding of where food comes from and its impact on health.
