Motivated by a deep love for people and the environment, I combine my work in urban planning and sustainability to support connected, healthy, and equitable communities.As the Executive Director of Trips By Transit, I oversaw programming, hired and trained volunteers and staff, and managed finances, grants, and communication. I used my passion for helping funders make an impact they value through grants, sponsorships, and support programs partnered with formal learning opportunities on fundraising and non-profit management. In this role, I developed effective organization and time management skills. With organizational longevity as a primary focus, I worked with the board to develop a strong organizational vision and longterm plan. During my tenure as External Director of the Dalhousie Student Union Sustainability Office, I worked to broaden the scope of sustainability while supporting motivated students in scaling up their experience, skills, and impact. I created, hired, and managed 3 new student roles, designed to help students gain practical work and leadership experience. I coordinated many events including pioneering the first Capacity Building Workshop Series which provided skill-building workshops for leaders in environmental work to help increase their capacity and effectiveness in the field. In 2018 I worked with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) on the Keep Halifax Wild project, as an extension of a public campaign I ran through TBT to raise awareness for an at-risk green space. With NCC I developed an engagement plan using creative strategies to help local residents connect with the project and get out to enjoy the urban wilderness park. As part of the campaign, I ran many public trips to the park which saw extensive online and in-person engagement as a result of effective outreach and communication.
