FOCUS is the Fellowship of Christians in Universities and Schools. It is a diverse community of students, alumni, parents, faculty, clergy, and professionals from a variety of Christian denominations drawn together by a common faith and purpose. Their purpose is to explore with independent school students a life of faith that is real, adventurous, intellectually sound, and eminently practical. I have been a volunteer leader with FOCUS since June 2010 and continue to love my experiences there. After being a FOCUS student, I decided I wanted to give back and lead to an organization that is so close to my heart. Duties of volunteer leading:•Volunteer camp leader (mentor) on Martha’s Vineyard and various Fall Retreats for middle and high school aged students•Prepared camp grounds before students arrived and set up rooms and lodging areas•Assisted with coordinating off campus field trips for students•Coordinated evening activities and planned daily schedules •Led bible studies for small group

As a graduation requirement of the JMU Health Services Administration Program I completed an 8 week internship in the Department of Health Information Management. During this internship, I am worked on several projects and completing Medical Record Reviews. Some of the things I worked on and completed were:-worked with the Clinical Documentation Improvement Team on Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Record Reviews -Assisted in revising the Medical Record Review process and guidelines from retrospective to concurrent reviews by conducting a literature search -Utilized Smartsheet to create and analyze reports to accurately reflect the production of HIM as it relates to outcomes of practice for the providers, the hospital, The Joint Commission, and the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services standards of care

-Maryland Sheriffs Association intern; sorted, logged, and deposited donor checks into data management system; crafted thank you letters -Receptionist at front desk; answered phones and greeted and directed clients and office visitors -Set up and prepared conference rooms for meetings and cleaned and restocked dining and beverage center-Typed letters, copied documents, received and distributed facsimiles, and assisted with filing

-Assisted in the Foundation office with daily tasks such as crafting press releases and creating donor’s lists for fundraising events -Responsible for managing PR activities using social media for the Fundraiser Kids For Hope -Analyzed accounting projects for mathematical errors

Assisted seniors in setting up, decorating, and setting tables for Senior Capstone theme dinnersWaitress and greeter for eventsMonitored registration table and greeted guests as they entered the pre-dining area

-Served guests and bussed tables in hotel restaurant that seats over 70 guests-Closed checks and handled money drawer in restaurant using Micros system-Occupied front desk and catered to guests’ needs; answered front desk phone and carried out guests and other staff’s requests-Conducted guests check-in and check-out-Cleaned guest rooms and learned the operations of housekeeping along with shadowing houseman and carrying out daily duties
