About Meredith Whitney, Pmp

I'm a dedicated, motivated, and experienced senior product and project manager looking for new opportunities in the computer software industry. I'm open to positions in Pittsburgh, PA or on remote teams, and have experience in autonomous driving, e-commerce, email marketing, and security education. Now, you're probably thinking to yourself that a lot of people have a similar skill set and background. I'm detail-focused and motivated by intelligence. I like to drive cross-functional teams to own and always improve upon their products. But those are characteristics of every good PM (both product and project) in Pittsburgh. Here's how I'm different.- I'm a doer, a solver of problems. So while I can talk with the best of 'em I can also come in and get things done.- My experience isn't isolated to just product development or project management; I've seen both worlds and use one to better the other.- I believe that an organization's strongest assets are its people and that working as a united front delivers on-time, complete, and well-done projects.- I work to unite teams under a common purpose and to motivate them to achieve the best of all outcomes.- Typically intimidating clients don't...well... intimidate me. I've worked with at least a few of the world's largest companies.Writing about oneself is difficult but necessary on LinkedIn. I'd love to explore possibilites with you.

Listed skills include Project Management, Product Management, Product Development, Management, and 22 others.

Senior Technical Program Manager

Boston, Massachusetts, Us

As the mapping and testing operations technical program manager, it's my job to manage around the other teams' dependencies; they're our customers, so I integrate my teams' work into their schedules. I developed a process to ensure that a new map is requested in enough time that it's ready to test new R&D features immediately upon their completion. Additionally, I'm responsible for the communication of available maps.

Team Lead- Mapping And Labeling (Technical Program Manager Ii)

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Us

Argo AI is a relatively new player in the self-driving space with drive and dedication to its mission. I left the organization on excellent terms to pursue other endeavors. While there, I was responsible for not only managing a team of 18 mapping operators (contractors), but also coordinating the product requirements for their software and the entire mapping roadmap. It was my goal to deliver on-time (or early) map releases for use in the driverless vechicles. I was "the face of the map."As the team manager, I coordinated and scheduled their work; conducted one-on-ones and monthly meetings; and ensured their connectedness to the rest of the organization. I implemented an agile, iterative process to map releases for speed and accuracy of delivery. Additionally, I was responsible for the entire mapping pipeline, from location and route generation through map release. I had lots of help here, though. I worked with vehicle operations and the executive team to source locations and routes, managing all parts of the map build process, from data collection through the technical and vector map builds troubleshooting and escalating issues as needed. I also measured and managed the map build pipeline’s effectiveness by both time-to-complete and turnover rate of initial work, developing required metrics to be able to accurately assess progress. As my team was the user of our mapping software, I acted as the product manager of the tools, working with the engineering team on software enhancements and improvements, writing full requirement as needed.

Technical Project Manager

Pittsburgh, Pa, Us

My tenure as a technical project manager at Wombat allowed me to further explore the ins and outs of managing multiple, cross-functional teams with several dependencies. During it, I acted as SCRUM master for 3 teams on distinct projects, the company’s top priorities. I was responsible for tracking and communicating team velocity, escalating impediments and calling out risks to on-time delivery. I increased the teams' velocities between 12 and 18%. I was also responsible for ensuring that each development team had what it needed to begin project implementation. This allowed me to work with product management and UX to get complete requirements and spec documents, synthesizing the customer requirements to be able to facilitate the team creating the necessary technical specifications.I also conducted all standard Agile ceremonies on our two-week sprint cycle, including sprint planning (backlog grooming and story prioritization sessions), sprint retrospectives, and, when necessary blameless post-mortems.

Aug 2017 - Feb 2018

Product Manager

Pittsburgh, Pa, Us

My product management role at Wombat was a unique combination of product management and ownership, business analysis, marketing, and SCRUM mastering. The beginning of each project consisted of market and competitive research, conducting stakeholder interviews, sending product surveys, and then translating product necessities into use cases and user stories. The foundational research is key to producing unique, relevant products that will quickly penetrate the market. Then came the development part of the process. I worked with each team to clarify the stories and technically design the product, adding relevant subtasks to each story. I was responsible for backlog prioritization, sprint planning and retros, and overall project management. While development occurred, I worked with the internal stakeholders (marketing, sales enablement) to produce targeted sales collateral. I trained the teams, took client calls, and assisted in the sales process as an SME where necessary. Additionally, I was responsible for product pricing and positioning, external vendor management for some of our technical partnerships, and project budgets.I also worked on one of our next generation products. It was unique in our space, and was rolled out in beta. I consequently produced its beta plan and questionnaire to qualify our customers.

Brander (Senior Project Manager)

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Us

My senior product management role at Branding Brand allowed me to take my project management skills and use them in the role of a product owner. I worked more closely with my clients' product teams, refining and rewriting requirements to guarantee an optimal end-user experience.

Feb 2015 - Jun 2015

Brander (Project Manager Ii)

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Us

As a client-facing project manager for Branding Brand, I ensured that our mobile commerce software worked for our customer. I was responsible for managing the post-launch team's largest client, and worked with a team of a project engineer, two developers, and a quality assurance resource.Client interaction and a technical understanding of the software's progression were integral parts of my role, but most importantly I took a sort of program management view of things: there were often multiple two-to-three week sprints and longer-term projects being developed simultaneously. It was part of my job to ensure that code branches were up-to-date; there wouldn't be conflicts between the work that was scoped out and the work that was being done; and that the client had a full understanding of what the risks and benefits were (both technically and from a business perspective) to all future projects. I managed my client's resource pool and woredk with our executive team to secure the proper people for getting the job(s) done.Similarly, I worked closely with the client to develop and write project requirements, manage the creative, and keep everyone on the same page. I was the sole project manager on Branding Brand's side, while the client had a separate team for each project. The post-launch project managers at Branding Brand also had visibility into what's next for our part of the organization.

Jul 2014 - Feb 2015

Project Manager

Bhivelab

BHiveLab is a start-up incubator and tech shop within Brunner. It started as a way to help our clients better keep up with the rapidly changing digital world.I was the sole technical project manager on a piece of internal software that will be used by a hundred billion dollar company. Effectively, I acted as a client facing product manager. This included managing not only the expectations of an external team, but also the internal developers working on the project.Discovery was done by constantly interfacing with the client to ensure that we produced a product that met their specifications exactly. I then took all the bits and pieces and turned them into functional requirements, which were passed off to the development team. In addition to managing the product side, I was also responsible for internal sign off prior to passing the new features back for client review.

Product Manager

Pittsburgh, Pa, Us

SnapRetail's SaaS is rapidly gaining users and partners. To help them keep up, I was promoted to Product Manager, where I worked directly with the engineering team to evolve the software. This included the full product process: discovery, design, requirements, sprint planning, QA, and general project management throughout. Discovery involved not only polling internal stakeholders, but researching competitive products. SnapRetail is a collaborative company; the opinions and experiences of their customers were vital in ensuring that the software progresses properly. I wrote the requirements documents as user stories (functional requirements) mostly, though implementation details were sometimes necessary for front-end or data-heavy projects. I very much enjoyed the mix of form and function in software that this allowed me to explore. Once requirements and designs were been finalized, I used Jira and the grasshopper plugin to create agile sprints. As development progressed, I worked with the marketing and sales teams to ensure that the communication pieces were correctly worded and distributed in a timely fashion. I also trained the affected team members.

Dec 2013 - Mar 2014

Product Content Manager/Project Manager

Pittsburgh, Pa, Us

My role as Product Content Manager and Project Manager at SnapRetail allowed me to feel a part of every team in our company. The first project that I worked on was a cross-departmental collaboration for the redesign of our public website. As the project manager, I worked closely with our marketing, engineering, and QA teams to ensure that the design and implementation process proceeded smoothly. I used a combination of Basecamp and Google documents to track action items, due dates, assets, technical specifications, and quality assurance tasks. Because the public website is built using Umbraco's CMS, I was also able to learn a bit about the interaction of a CMS tool with our .NET-developed SaaS.I also oversaw the content that was added to the product. It could be anything from a retail-specific email templates with a scannable coupon, to a social media post written to encourage digital interaction between retailers and their customers. We constantly tweaked this to cater to all independent retailers. Similarly, I managed and maintained relationship with outside vendors (as mentioned below) and streamlinde the content acquisition process. This function of my position allowed me to oversee product enhancements that bolstered up our product content. I was also one of the product managers and was lucky enough to work directly with the engineers on future features of our product. I wrote requirements, reviewed wireframes and specs, assisted our QA team on testing features before release, and helped our customer-facing marketing consultants troubleshoot technical issues. Before any of that happened, though, our I worked with our UI/UX team on user testing and data collection. This position was mostly one in which I was the liaison between our customers and our technical teams.

May 2013 - Dec 2013

Vendor Relationship Manager

Pittsburgh, Pa, Us

As the Vendor Relationship Manager at SnapRetail, I acted as a Project Manager on Vendor Driven Marketing- a new company initiative to generate revenue by allowing the vendor to develop advertising for the end consumer, sent through their retailers. This included all details of the program, from retailer recruitment and sales, to marketing development.I was also responsible for relationship and project development, including the progress of the necessary software for our 130+ vendors. My team and I increased the number of vendors participating in our program by 29% in 2011 Q4. Despite my busy office schedule, I also represented SnapRetail at industry trade shows, presenting our services to groups of 100+ manufacturers.I still worked closely with our Product Management and Marketing departments on our system's email templates and stock images. From tracking usage of the current images in the system, to developing a time-sensitive plan to add new ones, our software's content was one of my top priorities.

Jun 2011 - Apr 2013

Vendor Specialist

Pittsburgh, Pa, Us

In this role, I was responsible for all vendor relationship management, including communication, technical set up in our software, upkeep, and troubleshooting. I educated the vendor on how to provide a distinct electronic marketing message, ensuring brand consistency through retail sales channels. My marketing background came in handy during the collection and development of content for all marketing and advertising endeavors that involve vendor participation, in addition to those pieces that are aimed at enticing vendors to partner with us. I worked with our Product Management team on our bi-annual catalog, showcasing the product features, as well as vendors’ content. From a technical perspective, I interacted closely with all company departments to manage and develop the vendor processes, while working directly with the Product Management team to develop strategies that will enhance the product’s usability.

Aug 2010 - May 2011

Communications And Social Media Marketing Manager

Charlotte, North Carolina, Us

In typical Social Media Manager fashion, I utilized social media websites and tools like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and LinkedIn to showcase our company's job opportunities and to develop our web presence. I was responsible for our overarching brand, so I wrote, edited, and maintained all content, tracking success by contact with target audience. I created and edited all published job descriptions and company marketing material, in addition to editing candidate’s resumes for presentation to the client.I also managed a few different websites that we hosted using Yahoo! SiteBuilder and Intuit HomeSuites. From an email marketing perspective, I created and managed the company newsletter using Constant Contact’s online software.
