About Meredith Ingram
I am a research administrator with 16 years of experience working for universities which rank among the top research institutions in the nation with 13 years of experience working in research administration. This experience includes cradle to grave management of the research portfolios for students and faculty in a wide variety of disciplines ranging from the social sciences to engineering and medicine, including the management of clinical trials. In 2019 I earned the Certified Research Administrator classification. The diversity of my experience has allowed me to become familiar with and comfortable working in multiple grants management systems including (but not limited to) Grants.gov, Research.gov, Fastlane and NSPIRES. The variety of disciplines that I have supported during my career has allowed me to learn and become familiar with a variety of sponsors and the unique guidelines, requirements, and restrictions of each. At the University of Miami, I worked in the shared services unit that was responsible for research administration for the medical school. In this role I was able to demonstrate my ability to manage multiple grant submissions simultaneously. Within my first year with the University of Miami, a restructuring took place that decentralized research administration. Research Administrators were placed in various departments across the medical campus. A new, smaller shared service center was also created to support smaller units on campus who were not able to support a full-time research administrator. Due to my pre- award experience and the traits that I demonstrated on the job I was selected as the senior member of the new shared service center. In addition to a full portfolio of investigators, I was charged with training and mentoring team members who had no previous pre-award experience and supervising the team.My time at Duke University allowed me to enter the world of clinical trial research administration. The experience that I gained included the development of task-based budgets for the submission of the proposal, the post award management of the trial award and timely and accurate billing based on the award document. In addition to clinical trials at Duke I was responsible for the management of an equipment recharge center. A major component of this responsibility was setting the rates that were to be charged to the university community for the use of the various equipment. I was also responsible for the billing based on use and to ensure that the funds were received.
