I am a CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) working in a continuing care retirement community. I plan, coordinate and implement the operations and programming of the Wellness Department, including all the exercise and aquatic classes and special event programs such as health fairs and blood drives. I am also certifed as an Aquatic Professional (Aquatic Exercise Assocation) as well as certified through the Arthritis Foundation as a Program Leader. . My job duties include supervision of staff, volunteers and contractors who teach or provide maintenance/repair services, including preparing annual employee performance reviews.Responsible for preparing reports such as usage reports, end of year reports and capital expenditure requests as needed. Operating within budget, purchasing equipment and paying vendors and contactors.

To plan, implement and evaluate the aquatic program available to the residents. Leading Aquatic classes, aquatic therapy and assisting residents with their individual swimming goals and stroke development. Working along with the fitness department to raise awareness of the fitness program and to advocate for the aquatics program. Also work along with Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy to establish goals for residents in need of Aquatic Therapy. Conducting evaluations of residents who need one on one sessions or Aquatic Therapy. Providing Aquatic Therapy residents with a written plan and goals as well as progress notes.

As a Therapeutic Recreation Leader I worked at a day camp as a Leader for children with disabilities. My duties included planning, adapting, implementing and leading age appropriate activities in my class. Supervising the participants and their surroundings. Working cooperatively with other staff and assist with the supervision of staff. Setting up and breaking down equipment daily, including maintenance and proper use of supplies. As Program Leader I Worked in coordination with a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in implementing a five week program that provided gross motor activities for children with disabilities.
