Meredith Redwine is a Partner in King & Spalding’s Trial & Global Disputes Practice Group, focusing on representing pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers in product liability litigation. Mrs. Redwine previously served as a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas W. Thrash, Jr., U.S. District Court, N.D. Georgia.Mrs. Redwine’s experience includes:* Core member of national coordinating and trial counsel team for GlaxoSmithKline (“GSK”) in product liability litigation concerning alleged links between Paxil and birth defects, autism, and suicidality, with experience in trial; deposing plaintiffs and physicians; preparing/defending expert and corporate witnesses; briefing all forms of motions; and coordinating discovery. * Trial counsel/member of trial team for GSK in 3 suits alleging that Paxil causes birth defects (Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas). In 2 cases, the court dismissed plaintiffs' claims during trial because plaintiffs failed to prove proximate causation.* Obtained summary judgment in a case alleging that Paxil caused a congenital heart defect based on statute of limitations and exclusion of plaintiff's causation expert. K.E. v. GSK, 2017 WL 440242 (D. Conn.)* Obtained summary judgment in a case alleging that Paxil caused congenital limb defect based on exclusion of plaintiffs' general and specific causation expert witnesses. Frischhertz v. GSK, 2012 WL 6697124 (E.D. La.)* Representing Coloplast in MDL litigation concerning pelvic mesh devices. * Represented Merck in MDL concerning allegations of a link between Fosamax and atypical femur fractures.* Obtained defense verdict for Nissan North America, Inc. in case involving allegations of defective airbag system (Simmons v. Nissan North America, CV206-103, S.D. Ga.)Mrs. Redwine was named a Rising Star in product liability by Law360 in 2017, and a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2011.
