About Meredith Hafer

I came to the field of education with an academic orientation and a passion for helping young people find inspiration. I believe that the essence of being an effective school leader is connection: in order to guide students, one must remember what it was like to walk in their shoes. When I was a child, I loved learning, but I did not always love school. This perspective makes it possible for me to connect with students who want to own their own educations, achieve beyond As, and create meaning in their lives. It also makes me a lifelong learner, an educational innovator, an intellectual mentor, and an enthusiastic teacher of children and adults alike. I am a strong advocate of gifted education and schools that emphasize creativity, challenge, compassion, and respect for individual learners.
