About Meredith Marks

My coding journey started with a stoplight. 🚦 When I was in 7th grade, I visited my eldest sibling at their college family day and sat in their intro to programming course in which the professor performed what seemed like magic - making a stoplight blink on a computer screen. I had my sibling send me their homework assignments for the rest of the semester and soon enough, I was formulating the "if statement" that defines a real stoplight's behavior from the backseat of my parents' car. Learning programming changed the way I thought about the world around me, and by the time I finished high school 6 years later, I had written my senior speech in "code."Now, I have over 10 years of full-stack development experience building consumer-facing applications, backed by a rigorous academic background (BS/MS Computer Science from Stanford University, conferred with Distinction). I have been managing full-stack teams at start-ups for over 4 years now, having found a passion for building happy, healthy, high-performing product engineering teams that value culture and diversity as much as code quality and deploy frequency. I thrive working closely with cross-functional partners in a fast-paced environment that challenges me to narrow down high-level problems into engineering solutions and I never shy away from rolling up my sleeves or wearing multiple hats. I am a quick learner and curious problem solver, and I pride myself on being a servant leader committed to enabling and ensuring the success of my team by fostering an environment of both psychological safety and technical excellence.Outside of work, I spend my time at the theatre or at home with my two cats and a dog. I'm also fond of television, beer, traveling, rainbows, and all types of vehicles.
