I am currently pursuing my Masters degree in Food Science at Mississippi State University as a graduate research assistant and a graduate teaching assistant. As a teaching assistant, I create, oversee, and grade various lab activities as well as lecture as needed in Food Preservation Technology, Product Development, and World Cuisines. As a research assistant, my research includes, but is not limited to the following:~Utilization of waste from local produce to create new food products~Shelf-life extension of dried pet food products~Microbiological evaluation of environmental samples and food productsAs I also completed my Bachelor’s degree in Culinology at Mississippi State University, I have had the opportunity to participate and assist in several workshops, trainings, and conferences. I have served as the Treasurer and currently serve as the Bully Box Production Manager for Food Science Club as well as currently serving as the Treasurer for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences. Other positions I have held include a two year term as President and a one year term as vice President of the Women’s Club Ultimate Frisbee team, the Vice President of Membership and the Director of Residence Life for Dance Marathon (a Children’s Miracle Network fundraising organization), and the Vice Chair of Administration and Vice Chair of Service for our Honors Council.After graduation, I aspire to begin my career as a food scientist specializing in product development.
