My road is a windy one...so here we go.I'm currently a storytelling, tech writing, instructional designer within education and training. I support faculty and training professionals in building courses that are experience-driven, creating learning journeys through engaging storylines. I strategize with leadership about building fully online programs that meet learner needs across divisions, and, more recently, about converting face-to-face, instructor-led training into impactful virtual learning experiences. I advise on accessibility, develop design templates, and ensure quality across our offerings. The joy of instructional design is that I'm always working with someone new, learning something new, and developing new relationships. But, this hasn't always been my gig. I previously built a training team as the Head of Education and Training for a small content development consultancy specializing in highly technical content. I led a team of instructional designers, built education programs for healthcare clients, designed training experiences for corporate innovators, and delivered content to clients in non-profit and government spaces. While an administrator myself, I oversaw a team of eLearning rockstars, and ensured accessibility compliance and universal design. I sought out a Quality Matters peer reviewer certification and a certificate from the OLC as an Advanced Online Instructor. I have also sat on the other side of the table as an instructor in professional and technical communication because I wanted to be more engaged in the field and embedded in the process. But that's not all. Before my shift to the student-centered side of my career, I was a fundraiser, marketer, writer and editor for advancement offices around the region. And, while I was passionate for the causes, it wasn't where I was meant to be.So, here I am today using the toolkit these experiences have built: providing instructional design, corporate training, and project management consultation on training projects and curriculum development. I bring experience with Moodle, Canvas, and Blackboard; audio/video recording and other interactive learning tools, like Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, and iSpring. I develop blueprints, build storylines, and create facilitation guides for clients across sectors and industries. So, yes the road has been long and full of surprises, but I wouldn't be able to deliver the services and insights my clients need without each and every experience and for that I'm grateful.Looking to connect and share stories?
