The project is funded by The Icelandic Fund (RANNÍS)."The project is an international collaborative research project that seeks to explore the performance of emotion in medieval literature and the implications such performativity has for medieval selfhood and self-awareness across Northern Europe. The research area is defined broadly to include northern France, medieval Flanders and the Lowlands, northern Germany, the British Isles and Scandinavia. This project’s hypothesis is that medieval selfhood, or a sense of self, can be located through textual evidence, more particularly through its representation via emotive performativity in medieval literary texts." -
