Plastic is a problem - this knowledge is not new for the most of us. Plastic is everywhere - and we all have to do something about it. Plasticfreeworld came into being after the founder, Merlin Ortner-Exss, who worked full-time as a production designer, realized how much plastic waste was produced every day in film catering. This realization aroused the desire for action: It cannot go on like this. If plastic is such an enormous problem on the micro level, the situation on the global level can only be viewed with horror. Ignoring this problem is a crime against ourselves and our entire ecosystem.The beginning of PlasticfreeworldAt the beginning, it was important for us to find alternative solutions for catering and to-go consumer goods. The sale of plastic-free disposable and reusable cups made it a start. But the more we dealt with environmental protection and the issue of freedom from plastic, the faster we became aware of the extent of the problem. Not using plastic cups is just a small drop in the ocean. We had to do more.Plasticfreeworld 2.0 - a global platform for global thinkingWe can only solve the problem together. That is why we have created a concept for an extensive global platform whose goal is a plastic-free world. For the sake of our ecosystem, consumers and retailers must pull together. Our platform should therefore connect as many actors and initiatives as possible.Together we can and must drastically reduce the consumption of plastic. Our vision is to combine ecology and economy with Plasticfreeworld and to make environmental protection a priority. Projects such as '1% for the planet' or 'Certified B Corp' should therefore find their way into our company philosophy. It is not too late: together we can make plastic freedom our new reality.
