I am a board certified pediatrician and board certified adolescent medicine specialist with low-middle-income country experience and expertise in Global Health equity. I specialize in general pediatrics, adolescent and young adult sexual health, and adolescent basic management for anxiety and depression in high and LMIC settings. My skills include: medical education, research techniques and facilitating discussions about race and medicine. My medical education training includes a one year teaching training with medical students doing large lectures, small group facilitation, and one on one teaching. This teaching expertise has grown into residency and fellowship with small group lectures and one on one patient based teaching with residents and students. I also have expertise in research especially in LMICs and program evaluation techniques. Primarily I do research in adolescent mental health services with a passion for implementation science, youth led initiatives, and community partnered participatory methods. I am interested in service to the highest risk youth including those living with HIV, those with serious mental illness, orphans and other vulnerable youth. Research mentorship is also a passion of mine particularly of African researchers on the continent who are poised to take over the innovations of Africa’s future. I have global health experience with patient care as a trainee and independent volunteer in the Caribbean, South America, and Africa with interest in the coming year in jobs doing clinical pediatrics abroad. I also have significant experience with training and performing motivational interviewing in a host of clinical and community settings.
