• Encouraging market participant and securities dealer compliance with the Corporations Act 2001 and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001, and other related laws (including ASIC market integrity.
• Exercising information gathering powers – issuing Notices to Produce Books and performing Surveillance Checks
• Conducting surveillances of market participants and securities dealers
• Reviewing colleagues’ Notices and correspondence to improve adherence to ASIC’s regulatory and communications policies
• Undertaking and evaluating research on market participants and securities dealers, including interrogating ASIC data holdings, breach reports and financial statements, for possible breaches of laws administered by ASIC

• Encouraging importers’ compliance with Customs-related laws
• Liaising with different stakeholders, including customs brokers, importers/owners, logistics providers, and government agencies
• Exercising monitoring officer powers, and performing compliance audits of importer entities
• Applying the interpretative rules under the Tariff Act 1995 (Cth) to issue tariff advices, tariff determinations, and tariff concessions
• Interpreting and applying other agencies’ policies, in particular, the Australian Tax Office’s Law Administration Practice Statements
