I am a final phase Doctoral Candidate in the Division of Human Genetics-National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS) based at the Sydney Brenner Institute for Molecular Bioscience (SBIMB), University of the Witwatersrand. I have completed my doctoral research and training under the supervision of Professor Michèle Ramsay (Division of Human Genetics (NHLS)- SBIMB), Professor Nigel J. Crowther (Division of Chemical Pathology (NHLS)), and Doctor Nasrin Goolam Mahyoodeen (Department of Internal Medicine- Division of Endocrinology). My current project falls under the National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded Africa Wits-INDEPTH Partnership for Genomic Research (AWI-Gen) umbrella study. Over the past 7+ years of postgraduate (MSc and PhD) training, my passion for advancing medical research and translation thereof into actionable insights has propelled me to gain extensive knowledge in the areas of epigenetics, personalised medicine, and epidemiology of African populations. I am highly capable of generating and comprehending new and complex information, problem solving, bioinformatics, and big data analysis. Much of my journey thus far has moulded me into a very self-driven, reliable, and flexible individual. In addition to my scientific pursuits, I am committed to advocating for greater gender equity in the scientific community, particularly for women and girls in STEM fields.
