Visual Communication Design Workshop - VCD 384The primary aim of this course is to facilitate the development of a design project leveraging the tools intrinsic to visual communication design. Through a systematic approach, a design problem or requisite is identified and rigorously scrutinized. Subsequently, methodologies and anticipated outcomes germane to the project are delineated. The paramount objective is the execution and presentation of the project to a discerning audience.Within the purview of this course, the cognitive, investigative, and constructive phases inherent to design projects are subjected to critical analysis. A design proposition is conceived through a meticulous progression, encompassing scholarly inquiry, the precise delineation of a design quandary, the articulation of the project's potential contribution, and the selection of pertinent design methodologies. Moreover, a comprehensive evaluation of target demographics and fiscal considerations is imperative for the materialization of the project. Thus, the culmination of these deliberations precipitates the realization and subsequent presentation of the project.

Interdisciplinary Communication Design Practices - VCD 400This course is designed to cultivate interdisciplinary design projects through a multifaceted approach. Throughout the project development process, students are tasked with originating unique design concepts and refining their aesthetic acumen through collaborative teamwork. Projects are strategically conceived to intersect various domains including storytelling, communication design, game design, visual arts, and technology. Students enhance their design proficiencies by engaging in research, analysis, ideation, visualization, testing, and self-assessment. Moreover, they are challenged to explore contemporary themes such as urbanism, technology, ecology, and sustainability, thereby fostering a holistic understanding of design principles.Central to the course is the emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration in project work. The design project process encompasses critical stages such as design research, concept formulation, project execution, and communication strategies. Complementing these practical endeavors are lectures addressing pertinent contemporary design issues. By the conclusion of the semester, students are expected to manifest a robust, viable, and applicable project. Experimental methodologies are actively encouraged throughout the course, empowering students to engage in a dynamic process of ideation, prototyping, development, and analysis.
