Meryn is a collaboratively-trained Family Lawyer who has spent the past five years building her practice in Family Law, Real Estate, Wills & Estates, and Civil Litigation. Her passion is for Family Law, with a focus on reasonable settlement. Originally from New Brunswick, Meryn earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from St. Thomas University in Fredericton. During that degree, she spent a semester studying in Sweden, where she met her husband. After scoring in the 99th percentile on the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT), Meryn was one of a small minority of students accepted to law school after only three years of undergraduate study. She attended the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, where she graduated with the Wanda Szubielski Prize in Law for the student with top marks in civil law subjects. During her studies, Meryn earned a number of awards including the full-tuition President's Scholarship at St. Thomas University, a full-tuition Schulich Scholarship at Dalhousie University, and the Estate of E. Bligh Scholarship. She graduated from law school with a certificate in Health Law, and during her studies completed an internship at the legal department at the region's largest children's hospital.Meryn summered and articled at one of the three largest law firms in Halifax before moving to Peterborough and joining John McGarrity at his full-service law firm, which later became Steeves & McGarrity.When she's not working, Meryn enjoys spending time with her four dogs, horseback riding, weight lifting, reading, and travel. She volunteers as the Vice Chair of the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation (GPHSF) and is a part-time member of the Animal Care Review Board (Tribunals Ontario).
