Worked in a two-person research team to develop a coupled aeroelastic and beam kinematics solver in MATLAB, which calculates the aeroelastic response of wind turbine blades. The algorithm achieved a computational time of approximately 1000 times faster compared to equivalent ANSYS simulation computational times. • Performed extensive research and development of engineering methodologies and formulas to successfully create airfoil and rotor blade designs optimized for aero-elastic performance.• Developed Excel VBA scripts to automate the generation of NREL rotor blade airfoil designs. Blade designs were then tested against developed MATLAB algorithms and QBlade• Modeled several iterations of blades using Creo. Models were then 3D printed for wind tunnel testing.• Designed, manufactured and performed testing apparatus setup for wind tunnel testing, including rigs and sensor placement• Produced LabView DAQ models for testing in tandem with MATLAB scripts to successfully capture wind tunnel testing data analyzing aeroelastic blade performance• Performed engineering analysis of the optimized rotor blades using ANSYS two-way FSI analysis, performing both computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and structural analyses of both modeled 2D airfoils and 3D blade models to verify and validate wind tunnel test data
