Technical & Engineering Services Offset PrintersMost “Rigid Plastic Packaging Producers” operate more then one brand of machinery. Traditionally these producers would turn to OEM’s after sales departments for maintenance-, upgrade- and renewal services. The OEM would support it’s own brand whereas producers needed an overall approach addressing all machines in the production plant. I co-founded Global Offset Services bv to address this specific demand servicing all brands of Offset Presses, like VanDam, Polytype and Omso. Through the years we have upgraded or refurbished hundreds of presses globally. Amongst these were the very successful 560 GOS-COM or 350 GOS-COM, the numbers referring the OEM model and letters referring to our quality trademark. In most cases we have re-engineered parts or systems to better the product-flow, print quality and overhaul efficiency. In 2005 this led to a separate engineering department developing new hardware and software components. New electrical systems were built and programmed, in close cooperation with Siemens and Rockwell using the latest available technology on Industrial Automation.

VARA is a Dutch public broadcasting association. ‘Het Lagerhuis’ (=The House of Commons) was one of its primetime TV-shows, broadcasted live till 2005. An episode consists of 2 political party leaders/members and a panel of pre-selected debaters discussing news and topics, mainly political. Hosts: Paul Witteman & Marcel Vandam.I contributed to these discussions with enthusiasm. New episodes were broadcasted in 2010 towards the parliamentary elections in the Netherlands.

VanDam designs, manufactures and distributes offset printing equipment for the plastic packaging industry and for the metal can industry.Worldwide sales is managed by geography at VanDam. As Area Sales Manager my tasks were mainly sales and sales-agreements, account management and managing the agency-network in Western-Europe, Middle-East and Northern-Africa.Working at VanDam was a great learning curve. Being part of several teams, I learned how challenging it is to be innovative and develop new technology. Producing machinery is one thing, distributing the machines, parts and services worldwide is another. It can only be accomplished and maintained with a clear vision and good teamwork.

Celtrade is a trade company, my pre-graduate initiative and first step into entrepreneurship.Determined to start an international business several projects were realized. The most remarkable project was the feasibility of offset presses in the packaging industry for the Turkish market.After launch a first project was to be signed when I received an invitation to join Dutch offset press manufacturer VanDam in Amsterdam.

Acta Midden Nederland is the consultancy division of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU). After my internship at the department of “Cross-Cultural Management & Communications” I was hired as freelance trainer. I co-hosted many training-sessions for the government and semi-government sector e.g. universities, police corps etc. The world is a melting pot where cultures cross all the time on international, national as well as on a local level. But in every kind of interaction between persons or groups sending out a message does not necessarily means the receiver understands the same. Tuning is a necessity for a messenger as well as for a receiver. The enabling skills cannot be missed and they represent a competence that can be built.
