Ras Spectiv is a collaboration of working musicians from NY, CT, and, MA. Their focus is the performance of vintage Jamaican music from the Rock Steady era through its evolution into the we recognize as Reggae today. The band draws from a large selection of songs from the legendary Studio One label, John Holt, and Bob Marley. Their repertoire also includes a set of originals from Ras N'Gosi (I Anbassa) and other members. The band can deliver a full, 2 set show from any of these categories or provide the soundtrack for a most memorable 3 set Reggae party drawing from all four. Ras Spectiv's members were brought together in 2015 by bassist Basil Bernard. He first reached out to former band mates from Respect Due( Bob Marley tribute) Ras N'Gosi(vocals /guitar) and Matt Moadel (drums). N'Gosi went on to form I Anbassa where he continued to collaborate with Moadel. Bernard's work with Shanti Starr and the Afro Reggae All Stars enabled him to meet and recruit Jason Metcalf(keyboards)formerly of The Alchemystics.This top line up of musician is completed by the addition of I Anbassa member's Dave Reiss(lead) and Natasha Dimarco(vocals) ."a joyous and truly memorable occasion for Bob Marley fans...a lively and purposeful performance that reflected the strong musical, cultural and ideological impacts of the Reggae legend. Northfire Recording Studio is a world-class, custom built, audio production facility located in western Massachusetts. Our facility boasts a vintage NEVE 5316 console, both 2" 24-track A800 and 1/2" 2-track A80 Studer Tape machines, and an Aviom monitoring system. We also feature in-house producers, studio musicians, a comprehensive intern program, and a Grammy nominated engineer. In addition to music projects, Northfire does voiceover work for clients such as Penguin Random House LLC, Disney, SmartPros LTD and Scholastic Inc. as well as ADR work for film. Music is an emotional expression. Sonics play a major role in determining the personality and feel of any recorded music, so we tailor the sound we capture and create for each artist, album, and song. When the sound is right in lockstep with the song, the barrier between musician and listener melts away. That's why we ask "what do you want this to feel like?" at least as often as we ask "what do you want this to sound like?" This philosophy has guided us from the very beginning.  Well before our first client, we worked diligently to create a special environment. Collaborating with world-renowned acoustician and architect Michael Blackmer, we designed the studio to be a sonically flexible space so it can accommodate any sound from big and live to close and intimate. We also put a lot of thought and effort into the feel of the spaces, and as a result Northfire is a very comfortable, relaxing place to work. Our equipment collection is broad, with a wide variety of high-end mics, outboard gear, and instruments for when inspiration strikes.
