I am an outgoing and organized creative who has channeled my love of design, music, and people into a career I love. I began my career as a professional clarinetist, and realized that for me life was too short to be constantly stressed about practicing and reeds, so I made the (what I thought was temporary) switch to arts administration/development over a decade ago and never looked back. My current role at the Boston Symphony as Director of Volunteer Services has allowed me to share my love of music and encourage others’ love of music. More than the music, I enjoy cultivating a community within the BSO and finding meaningful ways of connecting our volunteers to the BSO and to each other. I also love utilizing the plethora of volunteer projects as a way of engaging our patrons and audiences to have a deeper connection to the orchestra and BSO community.My passion has been, and always will be, interior design and visual arts. From a very young age I have been completely captivated and preoccupied with homes and design. I am a synesthete, and color and design is very intuitive and innate for me. I have a small interior design business and am currently completing my interior design certification at The Rhode Island School of Design. I am a certified color consultant and always happy to talk about color, fabrics, art, millwork, and wallpaper! My goal is to create spaces that function in today’s world that are cozy, inviting, and interesting. I love helping ‘normal’ people who don’t feel they have an eye for design, don’t know where to begin, or are overwhelmed with choices. Together we create beautiful and affordable spaces that are timeless and add value to their home, and bring more beauty, comfort, and joy to their lives. In my first life as a classical musician, I had the pleasure of studying with accomplished clarinetists such as Tom Martin (Boston Symphony), Dan McKelway (Cleveland Orchestra), Sjef Dowes (Rotterdam Philharmonic) and Robert Listokin. I also had the opportunity to work with many world-renown conductors such as Kurt Masur and Seiji Ozawa. For two summers I was awarded a fellowship at the Boston Symphony’s Tanglewood Music Center, which was the beginning of my love for Tanglewood and all things Berkshires.I am the proud mom of two wonderful boys, and I love reading, paper marbling, antique/estate sale hunting, DIY projects, outdoors, exploring, and creating!
