The role of the teacher or the coach in the learner’s trajectories and transitions on educational pathways has been my core interest since I did my PhD in physical education and sports cultures (2001) at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. My research and expertise revolve around psychological, educational, and cultural aspects of teaching and coaching, career transitions, paradigmatic trajectories, and situated learning in the fields of sports and health sciences education and their professions. I am especially fond of qualitative methods, including in-depth interviews, expert interviews, biographical narratives and focus group interviews, and I consider myself a conscious competent craftsman in these methodological disciplines.My passion and areas of scientific expertise include: → Teacher training and identities among higher education teachers and health professionals.→ In-depth knowledge about educational development and how professionals learn.→ Sociological and psychological aspects of the agency-structure interaction in teaching and learning.→ Qualitative research methods.→ Talent development environments.Currently, I am particularly engaged in exploring the processes of academic development and changing professional identities among teachers and supervisors. So far, my portfolio includes approx. 160 publications, including 64 international and national peer-reviewed papers. I have supervised 13 PhD students and more than 20 master students and participated in 9 international PhD assessment committees..
