About Mette Mølgaard Henriksen
Danish journalist 🇩🇰.After two years in Munich 🇩🇪, working as a freelance journalist for Danish news media and NGO's, while climbing mountains in my free time, I'm now based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The last year I was working as "a digital nomad", four months from my camper van in Norway, Spain and Portugal. Then overseas, in Patagonia (as a tour guide for Viktors Farmor), in La Paz (Bolivia), in Colombia and in Ecuador (field research for an ecocide project). And then again from my camper van, in Italy (mainly Sicily, where I also completed a 200 hours yoga teacher training), Spain and Andorra (as a tour guide for Viktors Farmor). Now, Denmark is my base again, from where I write articles, produce podcasts and school material - while planning my next adventure 🌎

Together with a colleague, Josefine Aude Raas, who also has a profound passion for and knowledge of Latin America, I now produce the podcast ¿Qué pasa? - Podcasten om Latinamerika once a month. We cover anything and everything about Central and South America, "the forgotten America". Research And Advocacy

Intern
On the third semester of my master's programme in Development and International Relations, I had the opportunity to do an internship with UN Women Bolivia. During my five months at the UN Women office in La Paz, I conducted research about the gendered impacts of climate change in an urban context, assisted in the UN project 'Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces' in El Alto, represented UN Women at several events, such as the 70th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Also, I assisted in the strategic communication and advocacy department, where I amongst many things wrote human interest stories for the 'Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces' project, where I interviewed women from El Alto about the harassment they experience in the streets. Furthermore, I assited in the UNÉTE campaign and the 16 days of activism for the erradication of violence against women, carried out media monitoring and translated official documents from Spanish to English. About the internship, my supervisor says: "During the internship, Mette Mølgaard Henriksen has demonstrated autonomy, quality performance, professionalism and responsibility in the different areas she was assigned, which made her time with us very valuable for the organization."
Social Media Manager
I lived in Bolivia, when I read an article about the just opened café at the lakes in central Copenhagen. As a traveler myself, I saw a potential in the founder's ideas for opening the café, so I therefore unsolicited asked if they could use a journalist to be responsible for the communication. My aim with the position was to create a story telling of the founder's ideas for opening the café, which does not only invite guests in for a warm cup of Guatemalan coffee but also creates an environment for learning about different cultures around the world.
Strategic Communication And Public Relations, The Danish Royal Embassy
As an intern at the Danish Royal Embassy in Bolivia, I worked within the field of strategic communication and public relations. Overall, I was responsible for the communication of the embassy's activities. I had the opportunity to visit several Danish supported projects all around Bolivia, which I afterwards produced articles about for Danish and Bolivian news media, which were of course also published on social media, which I was responsible for as well. Stories were published in Danish in Globalnyt.dk and Kristeligt Dagblad and in Spanish in Revista Inspira. Also, I contributed to the development of the embassy's communication strategy and participated in official meetings and events together with the ambassador. About my internship, my supervisor says: "Mette’s work has been of high quality in all aspects of her assignment, and she has always met agreed deadlines. She has shown a good understanding of the goals and instruments of Danish development cooperation. In addition, Mette has demonstrated a high degree of independence and pro-activeness, and her willingness to take on new assignments when needed in a quality we specifically want to note.Mette has a very friendly and warm nature, and she has established very good relations with all staff members at the embassy as well as with many of the external counterparts, and in the short time span of her internship she has managed to become a valued colleague."
