This position was designed to identify key process gaps in the confectionary plants manufacturing processes as well as to determine how to fill those gaps with cost effective and pragmatic solutions. As the process lead for this position, I have utilized a data-driven mindset to identify these gaps by leveraging my experience in Excel and PowerBI. I have also become very flexible with my project management style since I have to balance four different confectionary plants, multiple different product lines and processes, as well as the diverse teams that come with each site.

I researched to discover a new family of 2D materials that were theorized to be prime candidates for batteries, semiconductors, or high surface area catalysts. In this position, I published two scientific papers in the Journal of American Chemistry Society (JACS) detailing my teams journey towards these target materials. My specific contribution was to determine a new synthetic method to produce a material that was more susceptible to mild etching conditions. I was successful in doing so, and was also able to develop and troubleshoot new etching protocol as part of this work. I have become an expert in this field, but more importantly have learned how to solve complex issues with little precedent with competing timelines.

I helped to pioneer a new material within Kimberly-Clark by taking ownership of multiple sub-projects that were imperative to the success of the overall goal. I identified the root cause of the material's main production issue by isolating key variables in the bench-top process to make the material, and correlating that relationship to each functional property. I established new experimental procedures that were successful in identifying the level of potential hazardous chemicals in our material, so I can always ensure that the products this material is incorporated into are safe for the user.
