The first question I always get is "what's your Ph.D. in?" Well, it's in mortuary archaeology (I excavated and studied cemeteries). How does that get me to a nearly 15-year career in social media, communications, and digital engagement?I've always loved new digital tools and tech (I was programming in HTML and CSS in middle school to build a Sailor Moon fan website). At the same time, I have had a deep interest in storytelling. During my Ph.D., I held a number of fellowships where I got the opportunity to experiment with both, using data and digital platforms to share unknown histories about the past. When I reached the end of the degree, I had built up a wide range of skills and a passion for digital engagement. In my current role at Candid, I use my experimentation, data, and creativity to transform complex stories into simple yet compelling, human-centered content. I have a strong sense of curiosity, depth of industry knowledge, and curiosity that contributes to my ongoing success.SkillsOrganic social media: LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, TikTok, and knowledgeable of emerging platformsPaid social media: LinkedIn Ads, Meta Ads for Facebook and Instagram, TikTok Ads, and Google and YouTube AdsDesign & text: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Rush), iMovie, Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel), Google Suite, CanvaEmail marketing: Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Constant ContactCMS & CRM: Drupal, Wordpress, OMEKA, OnCell Mobile Tours, Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, GitHub, Slack, DiscordAnalytics: Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, SurveyMonkey, R Stats, KPIs, ROI, OKRsProgramming Languages: advanced knowledge of HTML 5 and CSS 3, basic knowledge of KML, SQL, and XMLManagement: Strategic Planning, Budget Management, Education, Cross-Departmental Collaboration, Project Management, Content strategy, People management
