Manager, Ict & Information Management
CurrentAs a member of the VicHealth management team, I'm responsible for the ICT and Information management (IM) portfolios. The IT Management part of the role is the usual mix of IT strategy, governance, infrastructure development, ITIL service delivery and supplier/contact management, as the majority of activity is delivered by third parties. There's still a fair amount of project management involved, either hands-on or keeping supplier/contract Project Managers within sight of my preferred PRINCE2 methodology.The Information Management piece is an interesting mix, from formal and structured document and records management (VicHealth is subject to the Public Records Act), through semi-structured library and information management, right to the behaviours aspects and practices of individual and organisational knowledge management. I'm particularly pleased to take on this team, as KM was one of the most enjoyable electives of my recently-completed MBA.Both portfolios have many active projects, so the role is most centrally about effective change management; successful technology projects can only be delivered in the context of engaged people and optimised processes.
Ict Manager
Managed application support across a variety of package and custom-built applications, introduced ITIL Service Management practices. Prepared and gained board approval for 4-year ICT Strategy, defining application and hardware project roadmap for organisation. Migrated 120+ users to Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), delivering Windows/Office upgrades while retaining and redeploying legacy hardware as thin clients. Upgraded server infrastructure and network fabric to a high-availability VMWare vSphere environment over IBM server and Storage Area Network (SAN), with HP networking hardware.
