I started teaching but fast I turned out to be requested as part of the Executive Board to advise on technology and help on implementing some projects. I was part of a pilot project that was called the “The new technology plan for the education” in Portugal, responsible for one of two pilots. The project used Cisco networking as also HP hardware. I did manage the pilot, making sure it was running on schedule and with the expected quality and as design, also giving feedback and on how to improve the solution to be implemented all over the country. At same time was also responsible for supporting and for the availability of IT infrastructure. As being a professor, of course I also gave some IT lessons to the students. -

The company was eager to improve their business process and I did manage the IT department with 3 persons and managed the implementation of the new ERP, network and communications across all the facilities, decreasing the monthly cost in more than 60%. One of the most interesting projects was to build the new analytics solutions from scratch, built in house including the backend and the frontend. The solution was developed to deliver analytics to top level management team, sales, logistics and administration. Later the solution was extended to also provide insights to support and customer care increasing quality.It was a great experience gathering the requirements for all departments while implementing the new ERP system, but one other interesting part at the time was to get in touch with ITIL framework.Managing the department doing the best and right investments on the right technology for a non technical company was one of the biggest goals. -
