Experience delivering end-to-end solutions key customers, as part of the role of the Solutions Architect I am responsible for design the best data analytics solutions conducting projects to its success. Capable of driving customers to success or acting as a partner helping customer clients to take the most value out of the solution. Creating proof-of-value or proof-of-concepts are also part of my activities making sure the solution is the best fit for existing requirements. Designing and create viable strategy to deliver business value and closing the gap of missing and specialized skills that some of the projects might feel they have. I joined Webdetails, that latter was acquired by Pentaho and later acquired by Hitachi, as a Consultant developing custom analytics solutions for multiple customer that were working with the community version of Pentaho with great level of customization, namely with CTools. I also learned how to work with standard Pentaho tools, so when Pentaho acquired Webdetails I became a senior consultant working some on some strategic projects that needed high level of expertise and delivering success to the customer and to the company. Among some of the projects there I had the pleasure of working to/and great companies as Mozilla, Finra or Teradata (among other names that I won’t be allowed to mention). Was great stating to get in the Big Data world and investigating on IoT and Social Innovation. I joined the education sector hoping I could have more time for the PhD I started at the time. I started teaching but fast I turned out to be requested as part of the Executive Board to advise on technology and help on implementing some projects. I was part of a pilot project that was called the “The new technology plan for the education” in Portugal, responsible for one of two pilots. The project used Cisco networking as also HP hardware. I did manage the pilot, making sure it was running on schedule and with the expected quality and as design, also giving feedback and on how to improve the solution to be implemented all over the country. At same time was also responsible for supporting and for the availability of IT infrastructure. As being a professor, of course I also gave some IT lessons to the students.

During the following years and after I left the company, I was still collaborating with them as an independent consultant, advising and extending the capabilities of the Business Analysis systems and integrating with 3rd party tools such as ERP and CRM, as also improve some of the analysis.

Joined the company as soon as I finished my degree in computer sciences. I was the lead of IT department of this company working on Portugal. The company was eager to improve their business process and I did manage the IT department with 3 persons and managed the implementation of the new ERP, network and communications across all the facilities, decreasing the monthly cost in more than 60%. One of the most interesting projects was to build the new analytics solutions from scratch, built in house including the backend and the frontend. The solution was developed to deliver analytics to top level management team, sales, logistics and administration. Later the solution was extended to also provide insights to support and customer care increasing quality.It was a great experience gathering the requirements for all departments while implementing the new ERP system, but one other interesting part at the time was to get in touch with ITIL framework.Managing the department doing the best and right investments on the right technology for a non technical company was one of the biggest goals.

I started my professional career, working on a great technology company in Portugal. There, I started as an analyst doing also hands-on development, developing on Oracle Forms and Reports. Worked in different business areas as finance, investment, insurance, retail and for the Portuguese government. I learned on how to become a great consultant and realised how important is to work as a team on a team. Started to get a clear idea about database architecture, software engineering processes and automation. Writing code and researching on code/process optimizations was great and challenge, were I did become expert. One of the interesting projects there was to write a dynamic log change on top of Oracle. At the time, I haven't completed my studies so I decided to get back to college to finish my computer science degree.
