It was critical to calculate the correct amounts and make the payments on time, as it involved all state employees. The system is deemed to be part of the national critical IT infrastructure.I had a managerial role as team lead for a team consisting of 7 developers and 1 test specialist. I had the full responsibility of planning and delegating work throughout several PIs and underlying iterations, which I did in close collaboration with the PO. My team consisted of varying seniorities from new hires to manager-levels with many years of experience. I was also tasked with weekly status reporting to PM and did continuous alignment with other development teams.I was also part of the analysis phase of the solution, where I took part in major strategic decision of the solution. Part of my contribution involved comprehensive data analysis, that resulted in key figures that guided the decision-making. I also took part in designing fundamental processes involved in the payroll system, including the payroll process of calculating and making payments. I was also design lead on the configuration aspect of the solution, which sought to enable the customer's business experts to make necessary changes to the solution, to reflect changing needs in how payroll was calculated. The project revolved around complexity management, with a goal to better understand the actual costs of DLG’s processes. The scope was settled at their animal fodder production, which amounted to a significant portion of their annual revenue. This area was particularly interesting, because it was such a low-margin industry, meaning everything counts. They wanted to know the actual costs of producing, selling, and transporting animal fodder.I was given the opportunity to be stationed at their headquarter in Fredericia. From here I had wide access to all relevant departments. I got to work with and interview people from departments such as sales, business intelligence, trading and procurement, production, planning, logistics, and management. Being there daily gave me great opportunities to always catch the right people, and get a really good feeling for the company's daily workings.The project resulted in a report that highlighted how their current business practises negatively affected their performance, and what could be done to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and ultimately boost overall profitability and customer satisfaction.
