Service Development Manager (& In Malaysia, Manager - Maxis Fiber Network)Telewest Aug 1991 - Jul 1999I had 2 spells with Telewest (the largest UK operator of phone & cable TV services) split by secondment to Malaysia (a start-up competing with incumbent Telekom Malaysia) where I managed 20 staff, Maxis Fiber Network (phone, cable TV & internet for mass markets) & revenues of US$16m. During this time, I:• Launched a UK package which increased 2nd phone line penetration by 60% over 7 months & maintained av. call revenues/line. • Launched residential phone & cable TV service within 8 months of arriving plus cable TV, CLI & freephone services (all firsts for Malaysia).• Achieved sales penetrations of 23%, 15%, 30% & 28% for respectively home phone, cable TV, voicemail & business services in Malaysia, all above business plan expectations.• Launched CLI, digital leased circuit, 800 & audiotext services (all firsts for the UK cable industry). 800 service sales accounted for 4% of Telewest’s revenues in their first year.
