Experienced in the design and execution of cloning and expression strategies for recombinant proteins in E. coli. Conducted bioinformatic analysis and molecular docking of TLR5 receptors in Salmon salar to obtain peptides derived from a target protein. Carried out experiments on HeLa cell lines to observe the translocation of NF-kB to the cell nucleus using the designed peptides. Additionally, responsible for constructing expression vectors, clone selection, and establishing laboratory-scale fermentation systems. Developed a purification procedure to isolate recombinant molecules from culture supernatant. Successfully scaled up processes from a preparative scale to 10 liters. Also conducted experiments on SHK-1 cells with the target protein and derived peptides to determine gene expression through RT-qPCR, assessing critical genes such as TNF, IFN-γ, MyD88, IL1, IL8, among others.

Adapted and analyzed the expression of recombinant proteins in CHO cell lines for the development of a multivalent vaccine targeting various subgenotypes of the virus responsible for Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVDv).

Responsible for identifying chemical compounds in commercially relevant solutions and their utility in agronomy through microbiological antagonism assays and analytical techniques, including ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography in conjunction with ultra-high resolution quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC/Q-TOF-MS).

Responsible for leading and managing the personnel of the Social Protection Department in the implementation of mediation programs for conflict resolution and academic advocacy. Ensured the creation of secure laboratory environments and strict compliance with biosecurity protocols, in addition to fulfilling academic, policy, and administrative responsibilities. Additionally, contributed to the design of new teaching and research laboratories, aligning with the NTE INEN-ISO 15189 standard and Ministerial Agreement 2393 of the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) of Ecuador. Organized the inaugural Seminar on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Mediation Training, which continues to be updated to this day.

As part of a project aimed at validating a new immunopotentiated vaccine against Lawsonia intracellularis, I played a role in developing a prototype of an animal vaccine during my undergraduate thesis. This biopharmaceutical product was created through a multi-step process involving the expression of recombinant proteins, solubilization, and purification of inclusion bodies. Furthermore, I contributed to the establishment of a productive fermentation process in a 2-liter setup to obtain these recombinant antigens.

I participated in a Chagas research project conducted in Ecuador, where my responsibilities encompassed a comprehensive analysis and the identification of high-risk areas. This research initiative was part of a broader effort dedicated to exploring the intricate dynamics and interactions among parasites, vectors, and hosts, which are fundamental in the transmission of infectious diseases. Within the context of the Chagas study, the primary goal was to gain a profound understanding of transmission cycles across diverse ecological settings. The project placed its emphasis on the molecular genetics of parasites, particularly Trypanosoma cruzi and Trypanosoma rangeli, while also examining the role of mammalian hosts in connecting these transmission cycles. In particular, I applied geometric morphometry and molecular analyses to distinguish Triatomine populations, with a specific emphasis on R. ecuadoriensis and T. dimidiata.
