For Fall 2024 I begin my 17th year at Palomar College. I’m amazed so many years have passed but working with talented peers has kept the tasks rewarding.

As of July 2019 I am again sharing the responsibility of representing our department.

For Academic Year 2017/2018 I serve as the Library Department Chair. My co-Chair colleague completed her term on June 30th. The focus of the library's planning this year will be preparing for moves and selecting opening day collections. At San Marcos we will relocate to the new Library & Learning Resources Center building over the Summer 2018. Therefore, in the Fall and Spring we are finalizing furniture and equipment purchases as well as arranging for a collection move and RFID tagging project to be ready for our formal opening in Fall 2018.Simultaneously we are working to select materials for the library locations at the two new Palomar Centers (also slated for Fall 2018 opening ) - the North Center (Rancho Bernardo area) and the South Center (Fallbrook area). Our College administration has launched a college theme (Better Together) and a tagline (Palomar Powered) to generate renewed enthusiasm and energy for the new buildings, new student support offerings (e.g. Palomar Promise- offering free tuition to qualifying high school graduates) and our new online course management system (Canvas).Since Library professionals have always valued staff collaboration and empowerment for users we are thrilled by the College's specific recognition of these values/goals.

Back in the saddle after my Spring 2016 Sabbatical. It's exciting to also start off with a new challenge. As of Fall 2016 until Spring 2018 I'll be Library Department Co-Chair. Fortunately I also continue as the Systems/Technology Librarian for our Library.

Funded by College for a sabbatical during the Spring 2016 semester. I am enrolled full time in graduate coursework to extend my current library automation skills. All classes are virtual.

Supported Cataloging, ILL, Serials and Technical Services functions for member libraries in the tri-state region of MN, ND & SD served by MINITEX, an OCLC affiliate network. Duties included training, professional development and OCLC product support.

Directed all aspects of Technical Services including processing, inventory, cataloging and automation planning. Supervised 1 FT and seasonal FTE staff. Since my tenure under Library Director Denise Mahaney the firm was absorbed by Foley & Lardner.

Created copy cataloging records for JKM using OCLC's member database of MARC records. Generated printed cards via OCLC, maintained paper authority file (creating local authority records as needed), filed cards in shelf list and public catalogs. Over 3 years time advanced to editing complex records and drafting original records for input by Principal Cataloger.
