Santa Barbara

I am responsible for managing and coordinating the Garden's Education Programs including school and general tours, classes, teen programs, and Citizen Science. I lead naturalist activities when needed for school tours and Garden events. I work closely with Education volunteers and serve as their primary contact as well as help develop their training and.

During the Spring Semester at Dos Pueblos High School, I served as the hurdlers coach for their track and field team. I facilitated team practices and ran hurdle events at home meets. I developed drills, and personal workout regimens for teen athletes and communicated with coaching staff and students to develop the best fitness plan for individual athletes.

I worked as the naturalist at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History's backyard - an oak woodland play area that encourages hands-on exploration. I managed the backyard's club house, which houses several types of animals including: snakes, pacific tree frogs, salamanders, and various insects, which I used to help educate guests and allow them to.

I was responsible for leading groups of campers, ages four to fourteen, through outdoor education programs at both the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and the Santa Barbara Sea Center for their summer camp. I taught hands-on lessons about astronomy, geology, Santa Barbara natural history, marine biology, physics, and environmental conservation.

I worked as an office assistant for Camp Whittier's Camp Director. My main tasks involved answering questions and providing information to callers and visitors, and managing deposits, invoices, camp information and other paperwork. I also updated our physical and online calendars as well as edited our camp website content to make sure information was up to.

San Luis Obispo, California

Besides shadowing on job sites, keeping inventory of plants, and taking notes on the field, I aided in physical labors such as transporting plants, pruning, weeding, and plant removal. Furthermore, I am received personal training and guidance for my own landscape design projects.

For two quarters I educated children about environmental systems such as plant biology and oceanography. Classes would consist of activities, worksheets, and experiments that would engage children and provide them a better understanding of not only their local environment, but the natural sciences as well.

My responsibilities included taking phone calls, working the cash register, tilling and emptying registers at the end of the day, and assisting customers.

Santa Barbara

I individually supervised groups of six to twelve children, ages three to twelve, for seven hours a day. I lead a variety of tours, and science and craft activities about the zoo animals and environmental conservation. Besides working with the campers, I also administered tasks to CIT’s and worked with them to develop their own leadership skills.

Sweet Springs Nature Preserve - Los Osos, CA

My responsibilities while working at the site included photographic monitoring, plant density surveying, pruning, collecting seeds, planting natives, removing invasive species. I was also in charge of advertising and supervising the preserves monthly events.

Santa Barbara

I was responsibile for supervising groups of eleven to twenty campers, between the ages of four and ten, with a co-counselor and/or CIT. I lead campers through field games, parachute activities, softball, pool time, and other outdoor activities. I also served as an aid and supervisor for instructors during rock wall and adventure activities and art class.
